This year we are proud to announce that we are supporting Cycle Oregon as a sponsor. Cycle Oregon is a nonprofit organization founded in 1989 with a mission to transform lives and communities through bicycling. They organize great events that introduce Oregonians (and others) to some of the most spectacular parts of our state. This partnership made perfect sense to us since Johnson RV specializes in helping families explore the great outdoors in an RV. But it’s also fun to explore trails and roads on two wheels, even if those wheels don’t include an entertainment system or leather couch. In fact, many of our customers carry their bicycles with them so they can continue to explore the countryside after the RV is parked. Others are amateur or professional cyclists who use their RV to participate in races.
Why Cycle Oregon?
Not only does Cycle Oregon put on the best bike rides in America, including a week-long tour of remote parts of the state, but it also works to protect parts of the state we love so much. With help from the Oregon Community Foundation, the Cycle Oregon Fund was launched in 1996 and has since invested more than $2.4M in small towns and projects ranging from restoring historic sites like the Pete French Round Barn in Diamond to protecting community gathering spots like the Spray Grange. Johnson RV wants to help bicycle tourists get to those beloved places in style and comfort. In fact, our inventory includes a wide range of RVs that will suit nearly any cyclist needs.
RVs and Cycling are a Perfect Match
Some may be best suited to a Class B vehicle that can be outfitted to store multiple bikes inside or out. These van-sized vehicles are perfect for a couple who loves to ride road or mountain bikes together. They will have plenty of space in which to sleep, cook, and enjoy the campsite, while also having adequate storage for spare parts, tools, and any other cycling needs they may have.
A toy hauler is another great choice for a bicycle-friendly family or a cycling team who needs multiple bikes, tools, and other gear. With a 9′ ″garage″ included in these vehicles, there is no shortage of space while on a cycling adventure. These RVs are tow-behinds for those with a strong pick-up truck. Some can sleep up to seven and if you carry a tent, you can transport the whole team.
Get Out There on All Wheels
You can position your RV in a campsite on Mt. Hood and spend the days climbing the mountain roads, and then riding back down to relax at Trillium Lake or any of the local RV parks. Or, you might try a desert ride, camping around Sisters and riding through the mountains all day. If you become too tired your trusty RV is just a cellphone call away.
Cyclists all over Oregon will appreciate having an RV as a home base while training or participating in Cycle Oregon’s events. Nothing will be sweeter than coming home to the luxury amenities that RV camping provides, especially after a grueling day on the bike.
No matter the level at which you or your family rides, taking a bike along with your RV will enhance the trip. That’s why we want to support Cycle Oregon’s efforts. We hope you will share your stories of bicycle touring in an RV with us. And maybe we’ll see you on one of Cycle Oregon events!
